Woman hospitalized with fork in head

A 54-year-old N.C. woman with a fork in her head was taken to the hospital in stable condition from a Myrtle Beach hotel on Monday afternoon after she told police the fork must have been thrown from a balcony above.
Police were unable to locate surveillance cameras or anybody that saw the incident. The case has been closed, according to a police report.
The woman told police she felt a sharp pain on top of her head as she walked out of a restaurant at the Palace Resort at 1605 S. Ocean Boulevard, the police report said. She said she did not hear or see anything unusual.
The woman’s daughter told police that her mother called her after leaving her hotel room at the resort and said that she fell and was hurt. The daughter met her mother in the lobby of the hotel, where she saw a fork sticking out of her mother’s head, police said.
